Airlie Lawson

Airlie Lawson, PhD, is a literary sociologist with a particular interest in solving unacknowledged problems in the practice of contemporary book publishing. She was Postdoctoral Fellow on ‘Untapped: the Australian Literary Heritage Project’ at The University of Melbourne, Lead Investigator on ‘The Miles Franklin Rights Project’ working in conjunction with the University of Queensland-supported AustLit, is a Visiting Fellow at the ANU’s College of Arts and Social Sciences, and lectures in publishing, writing and literature at Deakin University. She is author of Women’s Weekly Great Read Don’t Tell Eve (Vintage, 2009) a revenge satire on the contemporary publishing industry. ‘Conditions of Access’, her study of the international circulation of Australian novels, will be published by Anthem Press in 2024.
