Award winning cross cultural work

emPRESS Publishing specialises in Australian landscapes and their historical and cultural contexts. em PRESS is particularly interested in fusing Indigenous, European settler and nature-based readings of the landscape to provide a deeper, truer viewpoint of our country’s heritage.  em PRESS has published two award winning books in recent years: The People of Budj Bim (2010), Second Edition (2022) on the World Heritage listing and history of the Gunditjmara’s cultural landscape in south-west Victoria; and the Goldfields Track Walk or Ride Guide (2017), which includes cultural heritage, and was described as “a model for future guides.” Other recent publications are a circuits guide for walks and rides around Daylesford, a nature journal organised around a six seasons calendar for the Wombat Forest and two booklets on the ‘both ways cultural’ approach practised by the Yirralka Rangers in Yolngu country in north-east Arnhem Land. em PRESS produces 1-2 publications annually.
