On the Stone is the publishing arm of Marje Prior and Associates Pty Ltd established in the ACT, Australia, in 1989 as a social marketing agency specialising in government communication during the Hawke/Keating period.

It delivered high profile national campaigns for the federal government and industry-based communication materials as part of the government’s micro economic reform agenda.

The company started trading as On The Stone in 1996 to focus on educational publishing and community publishing initiatives. It is a regionally based publishing house that supports community cultural development, first time authors and self publishers.

It is now branching out as a commercial publisher that specialises in social histories.
