McKay to present research day keynote

SPN is very happy to announce that award-winning author Laura Jean McKay will be the keynote speaker for the research day of the 2021 Independent Publishing Conference. Her keynote on Thursday 25 November will address the research day theme of ‘Publishing and the Environment’.

Laura Jean McKay is the author of The Animals in That Country (Scribe 2020) – winner of The Victorian Prize for Literature 2021, The Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Fiction 2021, and the ABIA Small Publishers Adult Book of the Year 2021. Laura also wrote the short story collection Holiday in Cambodia (Black Inc., 2013). She is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Massey University.

The 2021 SPN Independent Publishing Conference will run from Thurs 25–Sat 27 November and will be a hybrid event held live at The Wheeler Centre in Melbourne and online via Zoom.
