Introducing: Associate Producer Ellen Stephens
In the lead up to the 2018 Independent Publishing Conference, I am excited to be assisting the network that advocates for diverse and independent publishing. The books published by members of the Small Press Network have fuelled my imagination and inspired me to pursue a career in publishing.
Before coming to the conclusion that publishing was my own personal Holy Grail, I picked up a Bachelor of Arts in Gender, Sexuality and Culture from the Australian National University and have just completed a Masters in Publishing and Communications at University of Melbourne.
A highlight of the Masters program was travelling to New York to take part in the New School’s Summer Publishing Institute under the leadership of John Oakes, co-publisher at OR Books.
During the New School program our small contingent of Australian students gleaned insights and advice from American publishing professionals at the top of their game; this November, I look forward to hearing from their Australian counterparts.
